Hotmail Is Officially Dead: Microsoft Shifts to Outlook

After transitioning more than 400 Million Hotmail accounts over to Microsoft’s Outlook.com (not to be confused with Microsoft’s Office Outlook, just got to love their naming schemes) Microsoft finally declared Hotmail officially dead this week. The upgrade has been an ongoing project for many months in preparation for the switch to Outlook.com

Users with Hotmail addresses can continue to use those accounts as long as they choose. However, Hotmail address owners can opt to claim an Outlook email address.
